This year’s Senior School play is Shakespeare’s classic comedy A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Our cast and crew are entering the final week before their first performance. Excitement and anticipation are in the air as the students refine their lines and delivery to the highest level possible. The energy in rehearsals reflects the dedication and focus that have been built over the past months.
Recently, the cast and crew have been practising in conditions that better mimic those of the actual performance. They have been honing the natural transitions between scenes and refining their positioning on the stage of the Theatre in order to prepare for the mindset they will need next week during their performances. This preparation has allowed students to grow more comfortable and confident in the space where they will soon perform.
Now, please meet some of our amazing cast members.
Presenting Cole ’27, a boarding student from Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, who has been attending King’s-Edgehill School for one year. Cole joined the cast because he values the strong theatre community, with its welcoming environment and supportive teachers. Through this community, he can express himself through acting and bring characters to life through their actions and emotions. Cole believes others should participate in theatre productions or other artistic disciplines so they too can explore and express their sense of self. Through this self-expression, people may discover a new art form or hobby they never expected to enjoy. Cole especially enjoys working with his castmates, sharing laughter and building friendships with like-minded people.
Introducing Chelsea ’28, a boarding student from Mexico City who has been attending King’s-Edgehill School for two years. Chelsea joined the Senior School play because she enjoys the process behind a production, from the work done in rehearsals to the final performance. She values the opportunity to spend time with fellow cast members while developing her confidence and artistic skills. For Chelsea, the performing arts are a way to build self-confidence and express emotions through a character. These experiences inspired her to take part in this year’s production. She encourages others to explore the arts as a way to better understand themselves, relieve stress, and form meaningful connections. One of her favourite parts of rehearsals has been working alongside friends and performing scenes together. Chelsea hopes more students will take the opportunity to try something new, as her own experience with theatre has become an enjoyable and meaningful part of her time after school.
Introducing Ethan ’26, a boarding student from Turks and Caicos, who is in his first year at King’s-Edgehill School. Ethan joined the Senior School play after developing an interest in the performing arts through watching performances and wanting to experience what it felt like to be part of one himself. Since then, he has come to appreciate how the performing arts encourage expression, storytelling, and connection with others. He encourages others to explore the arts, emphasizing the confidence, creativity, and teamwork that come from participating in theatre, music, dance, or visual arts. For Ethan, it is also a great way to meet new people and discover new interests. One of his favourite parts of rehearsals has been spending time with friends in the cast and watching the show improve with each practice. He finds it especially rewarding to see how scenes come together over time. Ethan hopes the community will come out to support the arts and enjoy this year’s production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
