School Driver (Casual)

About Our Opportunity

King's-Edgehill School is seeking a reliable, safety-conscious, and professional Casual Driver to join our transportation team. This position plays an important role in supporting daily school operations and student life by safely transporting students and staff to and from school-related activities, athletic events, field trips, airport runs, and other school functions.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Safely operate a range of school vehicles, including large buses, shuttle buses, and passenger vans
  • Transport students and staff for school trips, athletics, and special events
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and maintain accurate records
  • Follow all traffic and safety regulations and laws and adhere to school transportation policies
  • Uphold a positive, professional, and student-focused environment while driving
  • Maintain a positive, calm, and professional demeanor while students are on the bus
  • Report accidents, incidents, vehicle concerns, or schedule changes promptly and complete all required documentation
  • Ensure vehicles are maintained in a clean and presentable condition
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Valid Nova Scotia Class 2 driver's licence with Air Brake Endorsement (or Class 2B)
  • Air Brake Certification, or willingness to obtain certification
  • Previous experience operating buses or passenger vehicles is considered an asset
  • Clean driving abstract and satisfactory criminal record and vulnerable sector checks
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact positively and respectfully with students, families, and colleagues
  • Dependable, punctual, and committed to safe driving practices
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on School transportation needs
What We Offer 
  • Position Type: Casual
  • Hours of Work: Approximately 20 hours per week during the school year. Hours will vary based on operational and transportation needs and may include daytime, evening, weekend, and special-event driving assignments.
  • Compensation: $22.00 per hour
