The Tuition Reimbursement Insurance Plan (TRIP) is mandatory for new students, as well as for students using the two-payment plan or the eight-monthly payment plan. Returning families whose students were enrolled and attended KES in the prior academic year and who are paying in full may opt out of the program; however, a TRIP waiver must be signed. Reimbursement is calculated based on a 37-week school year, excluded scholarships and financial aid, and is paid only after all outstanding monies have been settled. If the account is in arrears at the time of review, reimbursement is not available.

Program Cost:
Day Student: $400
Domestic Boarding: $800
International (Including Partial-Year): $1,200

Reimbursement Eligibility
• Medical withdrawal: Up to 75% of unused tuition weeks
• Other KES-approved withdrawal: Up to 50%
• Account must be paid in full or in good standing
• No reimbursement if account is in arrears

Sample Reimbursement Example (Medical Withdrawal—75%)
The following scenario is provided for illustration purposes only. A family’s annual tuition responsibility, excluding scholarship or financial aid, is $37,000. The student withdraws with six unused tuition weeks remaining, and the account is paid up to date and in good standing. As an eligible medical withdrawal, the reimbursement rate is 75 percent.
Step 1: Daily Tuition Rate $37,000 ÷ 37 weeks = $1,000/week
Step 2: Value of Unused Tuition Weeks 6 weeks x $1,000/weeks = $6,000
Step 3: Apply TRIP Reimbursement Percentage (75%) 6,000 x 75% = $4,500
Step 4: Settle Any Amounts Owing First:
If the account has $0 owing, reimbursement issued: $4,500 If the account has $1,200 owing, KES applies amounts owing first: $4,500 − $1,200 = $3,300 reimbursement issued (after the account is cleared)
If the account is in arrears at the time of review, reimbursement is not available.
