  • Calculus 12

Calculus is an advanced Grade 12 mathematics course in which students study topics such as limits; derivatives properties, functions, and applications, and; applications of antiderivatives. For IB students, the course contributes to the material tested on the IB math exam. This course aims to prepare students to take calculus at the university level.
  • Core Math 10

This course includes extensions and practical applications of material taught in MAT 10
  • Core Math 10 - Honours

This course includes extensions and practical applications of material taught in MAT 10H
  • Math 11 I.B.-HL: Analysis and Approaches

The IB DP Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches is a two-year course that focuses on developing important mathematical concepts in a comprehensible, coherent and rigorous way. Students are encouraged to apply their mathematical knowledge to solve abstract problems as well as those set in a variety of meaningful contexts. This course has a strong emphasis on the ability to construct, communicate and justify correct mathematical arguments. Students should expect to develop insight into mathematical form and structure, and should be intellectually equipped to appreciate the links between concepts in different topic areas. Students are also encouraged to develop the skills needed to continue their mathematical growth in other learning environments. The internally assessed exploration allows students to develop independence in mathematical learning. Throughout the course students are encouraged to take a considered approach to various mathematical activities and to explore different mathematical ideas. The HL class covers topics in greater depth compared to the SL class. Calculus is a co-requisite course in Grade 12.

  • Mathematics 10

In Mathematics 10 Academic, students will learn the essential topics of this course at a moderate pace and will develop strong problem-solving skills. These topics include measurement systems; surface area and volume; right angle trigonometry; exponents and radicals; polynomials; linear relations, functions, equations, and graphs; solving systems of equations, and; financial mathematics. By completing this course, students will be prepared to enroll in Mathematics 11 Academic in the following year.
  • Mathematics 10 - Honours

Mathematics 10 Honours is intended to prepare students for the rigour of IB SL, HL, and Calculus courses in Grades 11 and 12. It is also strongly recommended for those planning to take Physics or Chemistry at the IB level.  The contents of the course include number sets and interval notation; algebraic expansion and factorization; radicals; Pythagorean theorem; analytic geometry; congruency triangles and proofs; linear transformations; statistics; quadratics; trigonometry; algebra; functions and; exponents, all with a focus on sophisticated problem-solving techniques.
  • Mathematics 10 - Honours (1)

Section 1 of the Math 10 Honours course is carefully designed to prepare students for success in IB mathematics. Emphasis is placed on algebraic fluency, problem-solving, and effective use of technology through the TI-Nspire. Alongside core skill development, students also learn how to conduct mathematical research. They complete a structured research project in December and a supervised independent study in June. These projects strengthen inquiry, independence, and communication skills, ensuring a strong foundation for the challenges of IB coursework.
  • Mathematics 10 - Honours (2)

Section 2 of the Math 10 Honours course is focused on covering the core Nova Scotia Mathematics 10 outcomes, ensuring that students develop the essential skills required for senior mathematics. Emphasis is placed on conceptual understanding, problem-solving, and application of mathematics in real-world contexts, with a strong focus on linear relations, geometry, trigonometry, measurement, and financial mathematics. Unlike Math 10 Honours (1), this section of the course is assessed through traditional exams, with major evaluations in both December and June. By consolidating key provincial curriculum outcomes and building exam readiness, Math 10 Honours (2) provides students with the confidence and skills to excel in future mathematics courses.
