Highlanders Make a Splash at the Pumpkin Regatta - Issue 7

Julien ’27, Nico ’27, Jana ’28, and Helena ’28 decorated and paddled giant pumpkins in the Windsor Pumpkin Regatta on Sunday, October 11, as the event returned to the water for the first time since 2019.
On Sunday, October 11, four King’s-Edgehill School students took to the water at the Windsor Pumpkin Regatta, racing hollowed-out giant pumpkins across Lake Pisiquid on the Windsor waterfront.

KES students received a giant pumpkin from our neighbours, Dill Family Farm, and decorated it before race day. Julien ’27, Nico ’27, Jana ’28, and Helena’28 paired up to paddle both pumpkins across the lake.

When the paddles stopped, our Highlanders crossed the finish line in second-last and last place, proof that steering a pumpkin is harder than it looks.

First held in 1999, the regatta is known as the world’s first organized pumpkin boat race. This year marked its return to the water after a pause since 2019.

Congratulations to our four paddlers for taking on one of Windsor’s best-loved fall traditions!
