Senior Play Spotlight: LB Fisher and Maran Hawley — Issue 17
We are delighted to share that this year's Sr. School play is A Midsummer Night's Dream. Our production features a thoughtfully adapted version of Shakespeare's beloved comedy that keeps the original poetry while maintaining the organized chaos of all the intertwining plot lines.
As described by the playwright, Claudia Haas, the story is framed by the Dreamer, a modern student who is frustrated by trying to memorize (and makes sense of) a Midsummer monologue. As she begins to drift off, she is visited by Puck, an impish fairy who pulls her into the world of the play itself, a place filled with mischief, magic, and love.
We invite you to join us as this magical adventure unfolds on the stage April 9-11th. In the weeks ahead, we will be highlighting members of our cast and crew, celebrating the creativity, commitment, and teamwork that go into bringing a production like this to life. More information about performance times and ticket purchases will be shared soon.
Article: LB Fisher ’26 is an amazing cast member in this year’s Senior School play. She has attended King’s-Edgehill School since Grade 10 and is a day student from the Glooscap First Nation in Nova Scotia. She participated in the backstage crew for the Senior School musical Ranked in Grade 11, which inspired her to pursue acting through the Senior School play. LB brings her positive attitude and encouragement to the theatre community, which she valued when she first became involved in theatrical productions. She loves learning about the characters played by her and her peers.
She inspires students to explore the arts, saying, “Theatre is really fun, but I understand that it isn’t for everyone, and that’s okay! That’s why I love how King’s gives opportunities to discover and be creative in other ways. Whether it be theatre, visual arts, music, martial arts, cooking, or wood carving, you might find something you never knew you’d enjoy!” LB encourages others to try new opportunities through clubs or the Explore More program and to attend our production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Maran Hawley ’26 is in her sixth and final year at King’s-Edgehill School. She is a crew member from Port Williams who will be assisting with technical effects behind the scenes for the Senior School play. Maran has had an interest in the performing arts and fine arts since she was young, which inspired her to explore the world of theatre both as a member of the backstage crew and as an actor. This production is Maran’s final farewell to the theatre community at KES and the creative individuals she has met in her six years at King’s. When asked if she would recommend others join theatrical productions, Maran says, “I would definitely encourage others to participate in theatre productions at KES. It is fulfilling to watch our community grow as younger members discover their passion and carry on tradition.” Maran looks forward to enjoying her eleventh and final show at King’s-Edgehill and is extremely proud to see her peers, particularly this year’s Grade 11 students she has worked with for so long, step into leadership roles on stage and backstage.
