Fun Summertime Learning!
Our King’s-Edgehill 2021 ELL Summer School was a great success. We had students from Finland, The Ukraine, Germany, Mexico, China, Japan, and Spain. Our English Camp was a great opportunity for students to settle into a routine, get to know some of their teachers and house parents and to make friends with students from all over the world. We had classes in the morning to help students develop their reading, writing, speaking and listening skills, and activities in the afternoon that taught our campers about life and education in Nova Scotia.
Whether it was touring Halifax on the Harbour Hopper, visiting the Halifax Citadel National Historic Site or tidal bore rafting down the Shubenacadie River, students and staff enjoyed every experience to the fullest. The group had the opportunity to kayak in the Atlantic Ocean and Mersey Lake. We also went whale watching, played paintball, visited Haliburton House Museum, made crepes, built and programmed robots, enjoyed improvisational theatre, learned how to workout in the fitness centre, and of course everybody’s favorite, went shopping and watched a movie.
The staff at the camp and at various hotels, attractions and restaurants were quite impressed with the manners and personalities of our students. We are grateful to have had such a wonderful and exuberant group this year. Thank you very much to all staff and students for making this camp such a wonderful experience for everyone.
