Annual KES Athletic Banquet

The Annual Athletic Awards Banquet for 2020-21 was a great success with almost 70 awards presented. Even though we had a difficult COVID-19 year, as the slideshow depicted, we had a wonderful year filled with many memorable athletic opportunities and memories. Thanks to Janice Kleiner for putting together a great presentation, reflecting the various sporting environments and extraordinary moments captured in pictures. The coaches went above and beyond to make memorable opportunities for their student–athletes this year. Our coaches and athletes all deserve heart-felt congratulations for their many sacrifices and constant scheduling revisions. Everyone has an appreciation for the opportunities we had to participate during the ongoing pandemic.

Thanks to the Athletic Council chairs:  Allie, Abby and Aria. They were great leaders and were also great participants at our Captain’s Council meetings. Thanks to Mr. Campbell for leading this group and to the many captains for being great student leaders. The coaches depend heavily on the captains to ensure that our School culture remains positive and reflects our ideals of Gentleness, Learning, Dignity and Respect! Thanks to Kevin Lakes, as the Assistant Director of Athletics, who is mainly responsible for overseeing the Junior programme. He continues to inspire student–athletes and provide opportunities for character growth in the Junior School. Each of our senior major award winners were products of our Junior School programme. Our philosophy in the Junior School is Fun, Variety and Activity.

As much as the evening was an opportunity to celebrate our very best varsity student–athletes, there are many coaches and athletes who participate in our many recreational activities who deserve recognition for their contribution to our School. Our recreational activities make up half of the opportunities that we offer at KES, and they all add to the School culture. Those student–athletes and coaches share in the success of our Varsity and Prep programmes and are essential to our overall programme success. Although not everyone won an award at the Athletic Banquet, we certainly appreciate the efforts of all the coaches and athletes who combined, make our KES athletic programme second to none.
