Senior School Humanities Teacher (2-Year Term)

About Our Opportunity

We are seeking an energetic and dedicated full-time (1.0 FTE) Humanities Teacher to join our Senior School for the 2026/2027 and 2027/2028 school years! As a Sr. School Teacher, you will join an inclusive, collegial community committed to collaboration, innovation, and student-centered learning. Teaching will be heavily weighted toward Sociology, with additional course assignments to be determined. With small class sizes, you will build strong relationships, individualize instruction, and inspire students academically and personally. Beyond the classroom, you will actively engage in school life by supporting athletics, the arts, debate, and student activities.
 
In addition to class preparation and classroom teaching, all teachers are responsible for:
  • Collaboratively designing curriculum and aligning curriculum with department goals and the School's mission
  • Developing culturally relevant, inclusive, and responsive curriculum for diverse learners
  • Integrating innovation and new technologies into learning
  • Conducting formative and summative student assessments
  • Grading student work and providing feedback in a timely manner
  • Communicating information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress including formally through report cards and parent-teacher meetings
  • Holding one-on-one student meetings and regular tutorial periods
  • Attending all assigned faculty and committee meetings
  • Acting as an Advisor to a small group of students
  • Participating fully in all aspects of KES school life- including coaching sports, supporting arts programing, attending and chaperoning school assemblies and events, and partaking in regular teacher duty rotation
The Ideal Candidate
  • Holds a valid Teacher’s Certification or equivalent
  • Demonstrates experience and enthusiasm for teaching Humanities subjects
  • Demonstrates commitment to collaboration and teamwork, and diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Has a growth mindset, sense of humor, and excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Enjoys wearing many hats
  • Is dedicated to making positive contributions to the student experience both inside and outside the classroom
  • A willingness to assume responsibilities associated with the Debate Program Coordinator role considered an asset
