Fred Fox Honours Mrs. Shields for Years of Service

On Wednesday, April 17 at assembly, we pulled off the ultimate surprise for Mrs. Taya Shields! Mrs. Shields has been the driving force behind making the Terry Fox Run a hugely successful event on campus and for the Windsor community. She has worked tirelessly for over three decades to organize and plan this event and to ensure that the run goes forward "No Matter What" (the slogan for the 2024 Terry Fox Run!). Mrs. Shields is retiring this year, but we couldn’t let her go without acknowledging her incredible commitment and contribution to the Terry Fox Foundation. So, when we heard Terry Fox’s brother, Mr. Fred Fox was going to be in the area we invited him to our Wednesday assembly. Mrs. Shields was pleasantly surprised when Mr. Fox took the stage to thank her for everything she has done to support Terry Fox’s dream of eradicating cancer, and presented her with a beautiful commemorative photo and plaque. I’m happy to be joining the team that will be organizing the 2024 Terry Fox Run at KES and am looking forward to carrying on Mrs. Shields’ legacy.
