Heathers the Musical

Freeing. This is how Taylor Cole ‘22 responded when asked how she felt about participating in a full-length musical since the beginning of the pandemic. After last year’s uncertainty around live performances, students are excited to be back on stage once again. Not only are our students delighted to be singing, dancing, and acting with one another, but they are thrilled to be performing the ever-popular Heathers the Musical

Heathers the Musical is the darkly delicious story of Veronica Sawyer, a brainy, beautiful teenage misfit who hustles her way into the most powerful and ruthless clique at Westerberg High: the Heathers. But, before she can get comfortable atop the high school food chain, Veronica falls in love with the dangerously handsome new kid JD. When Heather Chandler the Almighty, kicks her out of the group, Veronica decides to bite the bullet and kiss Heather’s aerobicized butt... but JD has another plan for that bullet.

Rehearsals are underway and students are looking forward to showcasing their talent. They are spending countless hours memorizing their lines, practicing choreography, and reviewing harmonies as they quickly approach their dress rehearsal. Take a look at the attached photos for a sneak peek of the cast during rehearsal!

In addition to their roles in the production, some students are also involved with our School’s Mental Health Education Team which will be conducting workshops and initiatives surrounding major themes presented in the musical. On November 3, we will host a speaker who will discuss healthy relationships, consent and unhealthy expressions of masculinity for the entire School population.

Heathers The Musical will run from November 25-27. Stay tuned for more behind-the-scenes footage and information on our Mental Health Education Team’s future initiatives!
