What a great finish to the 2026 Snowboard Season. On a sunny but crisp Monday morning, our racers competed for the Regional Banners and an unofficial Provincial Championship. Students raced on a banked slalom course with two timed runs, where the best time counted.
Fifty racers competed from the Western Region and 55 from the Capital Region, creating a total field of 105 racers.
Regional Results
The KES Varsity Snowboard Team claimed three banners in the following categories:
Intermediate Girls (Lily '28, Abby '28, Victoria '30)
Senior Girls (LB '26, Nora '27, Emma '27)
Senior Boys (Max '27, Isaac '27, Yuxiang '28)
Unofficial Provincial Results
An SSNS rule states that in order to hold a provincial snowboarding competition, at least 12 schools must declare a team from three different regions. While 15 schools were represented, they came from only two regions—Capital and Western.
The coaches therefore decided to still compete for bragging rights and the unofficial provincial title. With more than 100 racers participating, this seemed more than justified.
Team Results
Our Intermediate Girls would have been Provincial Champions.
Our Senior Girls and Senior Boys would have been silver medalists in their categories.
Individual Results
Junior Boys
Leo '31, who competed in his first snowboard races ever this season, finished 5th out of 25 racers. Great showing, Leo.
Intermediate Girls
Victoria '30 raced in a higher age category (Intermediate) so we could field a team and finished 3rd in the provincial rankings out of eight racers.
Senior Girls
LB '26 missed the podium by just 0.15 seconds but had a great season to finish off her high school racing career.
Senior Boys
Our Senior Boys also had strong runs in a field of 28 racers, with places 3, 5, and 7 going to Isaac '27, Max Baker '27, and Ashton '26.
Last but not least, I would like to say thank you to everyone who made this an amazing season:
First and foremost, all our racers.
Our entire Varsity Snowsports Team: Ms. Hopkins, Marc Chasse, Ms. Alford, and Ms. Kelly.
Wade and all our drivers.
Andy Maclean and the entire crew at Martock.
Thank You
