Senior School Play Spotlight: Hyatt Endres '28 — Issue 23

This year’s Senior School play is the Shakespearean comedy A Midsummer Night’s Dream. As rehearsals progress, attention has been placed on developing clear relationships between characters to strengthen the emotional stakes within the work. While the play is often associated with its humour, it relies just as heavily on the sincerity of its friendships, rivalries, and shifting loyalties. Our cast has been working to refine these heightened moments by letting their genuine intentions shine through, allowing each interaction to feel deliberate and connected within the larger world of the production.

Recently, students have been practising their vocal delivery, ensuring that each line is supported with clarity and confidence. They have been refining their articulation and paying attention to how tone and emphasis alter the feel of their scenes. By experimenting with volume and rhythm, the cast continues to strengthen their ability to sustain energy while maintaining consistency throughout extended scenes.

Now, we would like to introduce you to a valued member of our cast.

Say hello to Hyatt Endres ’28, a Grade 10 day student from Wolfville, Nova Scotia, currently in his second year at King’s-Edgehill School. Hyatt joined the Senior School play to explore a new experience, and with some of his friends already involved, he saw it as an opportunity to try something different. His interest in theatre began while experimenting with drama last year with Ms. Sinclair, which introduced him to the creativity and freedom that performing can offer.

For Hyatt, theatre provides the opportunity to step outside of himself by taking on a character’s personality. He enjoys the freedom that comes with being on stage and discovering how to bring a role to life. His favourite part of the experience has been getting to know new people and becoming part of our welcoming and supportive community. Hyatt encourages others to give theatre a try, believing that you never truly know if something is for you until you step out of your comfort zone and experience it yourself.

When asked if there was anything he would like to share with the community, Hyatt said, “I would like to thank the cast for being so inclusive to a newbie like me, and I would like to thank my friend Rachel for convincing me to do this.”

The progress shown in rehearsals continues to reflect the cast’s dedication, resulting in a production that promises to be both dynamic and memorable. We are excited to share the finished performance with audiences April 9–11.
