AAA #1 LCM Invitational Jan 30-31 Recap — Issue 21

While the January break was a pause from classes for most KES students, for four Highlanders it meant two days of racing at their first long-course metres competition of the season, which runs through July. The AAA #1 Invitational was held at Dalplex on January 30–31.

Emery Endres ’28 got off to a strong start on Friday night, swimming lifetime bests in both the 100m freestyle and 100m backstroke. She narrowly missed additional personal bests in the 50m backstroke and 50m freestyle, finishing both events less than two-tenths of a second outside her fastest times.

Lillian Blois ’27 opened her long-course season on a positive note, coming very close to personal bests in the 50m freestyle and 50m breaststroke. She also delivered solid swims in the 100m freestyle, 100m breaststroke, and the always grueling 200m breaststroke.

Rowan Francis ’27 had an outstanding meet, earning personal bests in three of his four events. He was in excellent form in the 100m freestyle, 50m butterfly, and 50m freestyle, and finished just half a second shy of a lifetime best in the 50m backstroke.

Harvey Hadley ’27 also turned in a strong performance. He won gold in the 100m backstroke with a personal best, captured gold in the 200m freestyle while narrowly missing a personal best by the “James Bond margin” of 0.07 seconds, and added a silver medal along with a significant personal best in the 50m freestyle.
The AA Highlanders will be back in action on February 14 at Université Sainte-Anne. Our AAA swimmers return to competition the weekend of February 21 at Dalplex.
