Junior School Hockey Players Shine at Maritime Tournament — Issue 13
The Development Hockey Team at King’s-Edgehill School is primarily for Junior School students to improve their skills at practices after school under the tutelage of Mr. Sandy Forsythe. However, a few times a year, we enter a tournament to compete, build camaraderie with our schoolmates, and represent KES. Last week, we played at the Maritime Independent League Tournament at Saint Mary’s Arena. Five other teams were entered, including Royal St. George’s from Toronto, Ambrae Academy, Sacred Heart of Halifax, Summit Academy, and Halifax Grammar School.
The team won three games and tied one in the tournament and emerged with the championship. Jack Shearer was named tournament MVP, and Grade 7 student Finlay Barnett was the top goaltender. It was a co-ed team, with Grade 6 Audrey Greenough playing regularly alongside Emme Vandermaar ‘30. Jack Kielty ‘29 also scored key goals, while Charlie McLoughlin ‘28 anchored a strong defensive foursome.
