King’s-Edgehill School is proud to present The Drowsy Chaperone! — Issue 13
The Drowsy Chaperone is a clever, Tony Award–winning, side-splitting musical comedy that affectionately parodies the classic Broadway shows of the 1920s. The story unfolds in the apartment of a lonely musical theatre fan, known simply as “Man in Chair,” who decides to play his favourite record: the cast album of a fictional 1928 musical called The Drowsy Chaperone. As the record spins, the glamorous world of the show comes to life around him, complete with eccentric characters, catchy jazz numbers, and a chaotic wedding weekend gone awry. With gangsters disguised as pastry chefs, a bumbling best man, and a tipsy chaperone who can’t resist the bottle, hilarity ensues at every turn. Both a loving tribute and a playful spoof, The Drowsy Chaperone captures the magic, absurdity, and pure joy of musical theatre.
Though this is officially the Senior School musical, there is a great deal of enthusiasm and involvement from the Junior School this year as well. This energetic cast and crew have been working hard since the first week of school to bring this hilarious show to life for audiences.
