Grade 7 students go on a field trip to the Kentville Ravine and Devour! Food Film Fest — Issue 8
The Grade 7 classes recently took a field trip to the Kentville Ravine, where they explored the theme of ecology in action. During the morning hike, students observed the effects of recent erosion and learned how natural systems adapt and change over time. The excursion was also multidisciplinary, combining Science and English, as students were challenged to imagine symbiotic creatures inspired by what they observed in the ravine. These creative ideas will later become the foundation for the short stories they are developing in English class.
In the afternoon, students travelled to Wolfville to attend a screening at the Devour! Food Film Festival, where their own short documentaries were featured alongside films from other schools. It was an incredible achievement to have their work showcased at such an event. After the screenings, students participated in group discussions, analyzing the filmmaking techniques, and creative choices behind each film. It was a day that celebrated both curiosity and creativity across disciplines.
