Friendship Is The Bond For A Great Highland Cadet Experience! — Issue 4
Wherever we are, it’s the people and friendships that we develop that enrich our lives and build us up. Who we meet and spend time with is truly important. That is evidenced by the experiences as a Highland Cadet at King’s-Edgehill School and also at Cadet Summer Camp.
This summer, a number of our cadet leaders went to camp courses across Canada. Warrant Officer (WO) Lillian Blois ‘27, WO Rowan Francis ‘27, WO Andrew Klein ‘27, Sergeant (Sgt) Emery Endres ‘28, and Sgt Hyatt Endres ‘28 embarked on their summer courses in July and August. Taking courses in Expedition, Drill and Ceremonial, or Mountain Biking provided them with new skills, tested their perseverance, and offered them the opportunity to build new friendships while away on two or four-week summer courses. It is often at summer camp that lifelong friendships start! Photos and memories were brought back, along with great stories that are the hallmark of fantastic summer camp experiences.
We are underway with the fall cadet program at 254 King’s-Edgehill School Highland Cadet Corps. Cadets of all ages in the Corps will have the opportunity on Wednesday afternoons to go canoeing on the scenic Pisiquid Lake, tackle the high ropes course at OnTree Adventure Park in Martock, be taught self-defence in Jiu-Jitsu, learn marksmanship skills, test one’s fitness ability through the cadet fitness test, trek the tranquil trails at Mount Moses, receive leadership training, cycle in Windsor, and hone one’s musical skills with the Military Band or Pipes and Drums.
This fall, we’ll have opportunities for cadets to serve on the Honour Guard to welcome guests to our campus, take advanced training at the Regional Expedition in New Brunswick, or even try out for the Marksmanship Team to compete at the regional Marksmanship Competition!
It’s a great day to be a Highland Cadet and make new friends in the 254! After all, friendship is the bond for a great Highland Cadet experience!
