Through the IB Diploma Program, each student completes a project focused on creativity, activity and service (CAS). For my CAS project, I put together a cooking event called Middle Jodrey Supper Club. Middle Jodrey is the largest female flat on campus, with 18 girls representing seven different countries. I separated them into three groups, in which they planned, cooked and enjoyed a menu of their choice together. This was not only a nice activity to bring us together as a flat, but especially as the end of the school year is close, it was a nice way of closing up our time together.
Group 1 decided on a charcuterie board to start, followed by fried chicken, fries and salad with homemade Mexican churros for dessert. Group 2 settled on chicken fettuccine Alfredo with garlic bread and Nutella crêpes for dessert. Group 3 skipped the appetizer as well and chose curry-style fried rice as the main dish, followed by crêpes as a dessert.
This activity helped the students not only with teamwork and bonding, but also taught them new cooking skills and how to take responsibility – for example, that after enjoying their meal, they also had to clean up together afterward.
All the girls had a lot of fun and enjoyed their afternoons.
