Last week, the English Language Learning (ELL) 8 and 9 classes took a memorable trip to Peggy’s Cove, one of Nova Scotia’s most iconic landmarks. For many of our international students, it was a unique cultural experience – and for the ELL 8 class, it tied directly into their current unit: What’s the Story Here?
From the winding coastal roads to the weathered lighthouse perched above the waves, Peggy’s Cove offered the perfect backdrop for exploring the stories that landscapes and landmarks can tell. Our students observed how the rocky coastline, traditional fishing village and mysterious fog each contribute to a larger narrative – one that speaks of Nova Scotian history, resilience, and beauty.
The fog rolled in right on cue, giving us a truly authentic East Coast experience. Lobster rolls were enjoyed, plenty of selfies were snapped and we’re proud to say everyone followed the number one rule: stay off the black rocks!
It was a day full of laughter, learning, and appreciation for the stories our province has to offer – and one we won’t soon forget.
