The Grade 7 classes recently spent a day in Halifax, discovering the city’s charm through photography and exploration. The trip began in the lush Halifax Public Gardens, where students participated in a hands-on workshop with professional photographer Corey Isenor. Surrounded by blooming flowers and winding paths, students learned the basics of composition, light, and perspective; skills they put to good use for the rest of the day.
From there, we made our way down Citadel Hill, stopping to photograph the historic clock tower and capture views of the city below. At the Halifax Harbour, students experimented with perspective shots using the new public infrastructure installations. The group then boarded a ferry to Dartmouth, learning about some history of the Halifax Explosion on the way. We wrapped up the day with a delicious pizza lunch from Yeah Yeah’s, enjoyed picnic-style at a park in Dartmouth, before heading home with cameras full of memories. Each student will choose a favourite photo to be printed, framed, and kept as a souvenir of a wonderful trip to Halifax.
Many thanks to Victoria Walsh's family for a generous donation to help provide such a wonderful experience for the Grade 7 students.
