Spotlight on Kana Matsuda – Grade 11 IB Visual Arts Student
This weekend, I am excited to highlight the incredible talents of Kana Matsuda ‘26, a Grade 11 IB student here at KES. Originally from Tokyo, Japan, Kana has been part of our KES community for three years and has quickly established herself as a gifted and dedicated artist.
Kana’s passion for drawing started at a very young age, and over the years, she has practiced her skills, evolving into an exceptional visual artist. Next year, she will be joining the IB Visual Arts program, a step that aligns perfectly with her growing ambition in the arts.
When I asked Kana about her love for drawing, she shared that she is particularly drawn to the intricate details involved in creating still-life compositions. She explained how she enjoys capturing the nuances of shading, tonal drawing, and intricate details, especially when it comes to sketching hands – an element she finds both challenging and rewarding.
Kana’s remarkable works of art have been a source of inspiration for many in our art classes. She mentioned that each drawing takes her around a week to complete, as she is committed to perfecting every line and shade. Her attention to detail and dedication to her craft are evident in every piece she creates.
We’re proud to have Kana as part of our KES community, and we can’t wait to see how her talent continues to grow.
