Artists of the Week

The arts at King’s-Edgehill are an inclusive environment that embraces diversity. Not only in who we are but in our choices of what we pursue and how we express that choice. Creativity and imagination allow the capacity to develop ideas, solve problems, and provide life skills. Intelligence and creativity are overlapping skills and through the arts, a person builds confidence, develops perspective, and finds their true nature.

Skye Hussey ‘26
Skye has embraced every artistic opportunity that’s come her way – whether shining at Coffee House, effortlessly performing in the Senior School play, or quietly supporting backstage at the dance recital. A passionate artist and an unwavering cheerleader for the arts, she brings heart, energy, and dedication to everything she touches. Thank you for nurturing our program with your love and talent – you are truly a superstar!

For the Artists of the Week, we could be listing all of the talented IB visual arts students who are graduating this year. Two visual artists that need to be mentioned are:

Ava Herritt ‘25 and Yurika Tateno ‘25.

Ava, with her determination to complete all aspects of the course and the creative direction that her studio work had taken. Who knew that accidentally dropping her purse would lead to a very interesting theme of Contents which she took in many directions. The detailed oil painting of her purse was stunning!
Wonderful work, Ava.

Yurika has always been an incredible and inspiring student. When she completed her painting Lawson, it was such a powerful direction that she took to paint Mount Fuji. Instead of the usual tourist view, she wanted to capture how Mount Fuji is seen today by adding a newer view of the convenience store in front of the mountain. The composition that she had chosen to put the focus on both structures and her choice of colour emphasized the form. This is a very powerful painting.

For her next painting, she wanted to paint the details of sushi. We will never look at sushi again in the same way. Amazing work, Yurika.

Congratulations to both talented and inspiring visual artists.
