About Our Opportunity

Our school is proud to offer a welcoming and supportive boarding experience for students from around the world. As a Dorm Parent in Milner/Inglis, you will serve as a key caregiver for a group of approximately 10–15 male students throughout the school year and play an essential role in creating a safe, positive, and inclusive residential community. This is a live‑in, on‑campus position that includes responsibilities related to student safety and wellbeing, weekly supervision, regular communication with parents, and the chaperoning of off‑campus outings, school events, and social activities.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Fostering a close-knit boarding community in which students feel accepted and at home
  • Fulfilling regular weekly residence duty on a rotational basis and one weekend duty per month
  • Fulfilling weekend activity supervision including off-campus activities
  • Maintaining a regular visible presence and communication with boarding students
  • Maintaining a high standard of communication with parents through e-mail, telephone, written or personal contact
  • Attending daily breakfast and carrying out breakfast sign in and room inspections
  • Attending regular Dorm Parent meetings
  • Planning and running weekly flat meetings
  • Handling daily leave and weekend requests from students
  • Contributing to student progress reports through Dorm Parent comments
  • Facilitating the orientation and onboarding of new students into the boarding community
  • Participating in KES events and activities
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Minimum two years of successful experience working with young people in an educational, residential, or social context preferred
  • Enthusiasm for working with young people and contributing positively to their social and emotional development
  • Approachable and able to deal with problems efficiently and calmly as they arise
  • High standards of professionalism and excellent interpersonal skills when working with children and adults
  • Ability to coach/instruct in at least one KES co-curricular area an asset
  • Completion of or enrollment in a post-secondary program an asset
