KES evens their record at 2-2 in league play with a win over Avon View.
KES used a balanced attack and some opportunistic scoring to secure a season sweep of the series against Avon View yesterday afternoon. The backline was phenomenal in maintaining shape, moving the ball to initiate attack, and preventing shots from getting through. Diego Pereda worked the ball nicely down the left flank before crossing it in for our smallest player, Santiago Martinez, who headed the ball home for a 1-0 lead. Dominant in ball posession in the early going, KES was forced back on their heels in the middle of the half but the AV attacks were thwarted by excellent defending by Liam Hogan, Julian Balbuena, Alfonso Periera, and David Lee. Ten minutes before the break, veteran and senior student Jabes Benedict scored his first senior team goal with some tenacious pressure on the AV defenders and eventually earning the ball in a spot where he couldn't miss. AV pushed to cut the lead in the second half but once again the KES defenders were up to the task and a phenomenal strike from Inigo Vazquez gave KES a 3-0 lead late in the game. The squad next plays Park View on the 30th and Hoton on the 2nd to wrap up league play. Anthony Corradini was not challenged often but was always up to the task when the ball entered his box, to earn his first league play shutout. Well done, Anthony.
