New RSM and DSM Announced along with Cadet Senior Leadership Appointments

We have a new cadet senior leadership team for the 2025–26 school year. This team consists of nine Master Warrant Officers and one Chief Warrant Officer who is corps Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM).

Our Commanding Officer, Captain James Skafte, thanked the current cadet senior leadership team for 2024–25 for their contributions to the Corps. They are:

Company Sergeant Majors: MWO Yasu Hojo ’25, MWO Gabby Shaw ’25, MWO Sierra Phillips ’25 and MWO Lola Wamback ’25.

Pipe Major MWO Ezra Sasaki ’26, Drum Major MWO Vinnie Armstrong ’25 and Band Sergeant Major MWO Jacob Fines-Belcham ’25.

Training Sergeant Major and Master of Ceremonies MWO Sofia Ning ’25, Drill Sergeant Major (DSM) MWO Kail Brown ’25 and Regimental Sergeant Major CWO Ann MacQuarrie ’25. Congratulations to this team for your excellent leadership!

Next, a coining ceremony took place as a special thank you to RSM Ann MacQuarrie and DSM Kail Brown for their leadership. They were called up on stage at assembly to each receive a silver maple leaf coin from Captain Skafte. This pure silver coin is made by the Royal Canadian Mint and was chosen because the maple leaf is on our national flag and is an emblem that represents our country. Most uniquely, we are celebrating 60 years since the national flag of Canada was officially adopted on February 15, 1965. Very well done, RSM and DSM!

Then the cadet senior leadership appointments for the 2025–26 school year took place.

We started with promotions to Master Warrant Officer and the appointments to Company Sergeant Major (CSM), followed by band senior appointments.

Alpha Company CSM is MWO Colton Phillips ’26
Bravo Company CSM is MWO Cam Morton ’26
Charlie Company CSM is MWO Casey Underhill ’26
Delta Company CSM is MWO Ezra Choo ’26
Returning as Pipe Major is MWO Ezra Sasaki
Band Sergeant Major is MWO Kao Ueno ’26
Drum Major is MWO Christian Goulden ’26

Third in command of the Corps is Training Sergeant Major MWO Molly Dickinson ’26. Molly also has the very important role as the Master of Ceremonies in all ceremonial parades that take place. She has a vast amount of leadership experience as Training Warrant Officer and was in the Colour Party the previous year.

Our CO, Captain James Skafte, then announced the DSM appointment. This cadet has impressed us with his sharp drill, dress and deportment. Throughout the year he displayed strong leadership skills as a Colour Party Warrant Officer of the Regimental Colour and demonstrated that he was ready and able to take on the role of Drill Sergeant Major of the 254.

Promoted to Master Warrant Officer and appointed as the corps DSM, Master Warrant Officer Chris Turgeon ’26!

Next was the last and significant appointment to RSM. This cadet has set such a high standard and is always seeking ways to improve himself. He has the intrinsic desire to be better than his last best outcome academically, in sports and as a leader in the 254. He has been going above and beyond to secure the role as RSM. He has leadership experience as Platoon Warrant Officer in Grade 10 and then Drill Instructor Warrant Officer this year. It is my pleasure to promote to Chief Warrant Officer and appoint as the RSM of the Cadet Corps, Chief Warrant Officer Will Larder ’26!

Ladies and gentlemen, the leadership of the Corps.
