This past weekend, the Highlanders embarked on an unforgettable adventure to the stunning Cape Breton Highlands, where we had the unique experience of staying in seaside domes at True North Destinations. Each dome provided a cozy haven, complete with hot tubs that allowed us to relax and soak in the stunning ocean views after a day of adventure.
Our journey included three invigorating hikes. We conquered the Skyline Ridge, where the panoramic views took our breath away. A peaceful forest walk at Jack Pine Trail led us to a dramatic rocky cliff coast, showcasing nature's raw beauty. For the adventurous, an interior hike to a waterfall offered a thrilling challenge, with a few brave souls taking a daring dip in the icy waters.
Culturally, we experienced the charm of local life as we watched lobster boats come into the wharf, bringing in the day’s catch. This was followed by a delicious traditional lobster dinner at a local restaurant, where we savoured the flavors of the sea.
Evenings were spent in relaxation, listening to the soothing sounds of the ocean and enjoying the breathtaking sunsets. The Highlanders returned home with not just memories of adventure, but a deeper appreciation for the beauty and culture of the Cape Breton Highlands.
A heartfelt thank you to the chaperones and parents for making this unforgettable experience possible for our students.
