Be More – the Adventurous Life of Cadets

This week cadets were all smiles as they arrived at Falls Lake for canoeing. Both Platoon 3 and 4 would enjoy a warm, sunny Wednesday afternoon on the lake in the peace and solitude that the rustic setting offered.

The opportunity to go canoeing as part of one’s education should not be taken for granted. We believe that in developing the whole person, learning takes place both in the classroom and outside of the classroom. Academics is of utmost importance and a peaceful afternoon of paddling with friends affords a contemplative time to reflect and recharge for the next school day.

Smiles were shared as students tackled the challenges of learning to paddle a canoe together, bonding over casual conversations – this is what life in the 254 is really all about. Friends, teammates, and quiet moments on the lake come together to build memories that may one day be retold at an alumni gathering. To the youth in Platoons 3 and 4: may you cherish these moments, reflect on your accomplishments, and keep striving toward the future that awaits you.
