Athletes of the Week

Athletes of the Week (AOW) are selected based on athletic performance and sportsmanship. Positive sporting behaviour is valued at KES and integral to our athletic philosophy and School mission statement emphasizing gentleness, learning, dignity, and respect. These student athletes also reflect the seven principles of “true sport” which states: go for it, play fair, respect others, keep it fun, stay healthy, include everyone, and give back.

For the Week of November 5

Addy Smith '27 has been a patient and kind leader as a Captain, offering guidance to the younger more inexperienced players of the junior girls’ soccer team.. She was also a rock in the net for us this season, only conceding one goal. She was instrumental in our team securing the Regional Championship this year. Congratulations to Addy!

Franklin Arthur '28 has a been a key contributor to the Junior B Boys’ Soccer defensive line. All season long, he has stopped his opponents’ progress, thanks to his speed, skill, and tenacity. As well, he often put himself on the goal line and blocked shots when the keeper was out of the net. His situational awareness is impressive and his teammates knew they could count on him in every match. Well done, Frankie!
Ava MacDonald '24 is a veteran on the volleyball court.  Her passion and determination for the game of volleyball have made her a role model both on and off the court. Her versatility, personality, game sense, and skill on the court are the difference maker in helping each player develop each practice.  She has an amazing positive attitude and is a tremendous player to this year's female varsity volleyball team. Well done Ava!

For the Week of November 12

Maria Fernandez '27 is an amazing addition to this year's female varsity volleyball team.  She is the youngest player on the team, but her skillset makes her a dominant player on the court.  Her passion, instinct and calm demeanor in addition to her versatility, and game sense on the court were the difference maker in helping our team win our home tournament last weekend. Congratulations Maria!

Ava Herritt '25 has been a phenomenal leader throughout the riding term. She has taken the initiative to help newcomers with everything from technique to terminology, as well as improved her own riding skills. She has been a positive and encouraging member of the equestrian team all term. Thanks for your leadership, Ava.
