Trip to the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia

On Monday, November 6, I took my International Baccalaureate Grade 11 and 12 students to the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia.

A very inspiring exhibition is now on display until January 14, 2024, which is called Generations – The Sobey Family & Canadian Art Collection. The Generations collection is one of the largest exhibitions of Canadian art displayed at one time, in Canada. The Sobey family's visionary engagement with Canadian and Indigenous art brings together the pioneers of the 19th century and the trail-blazing artists of today. The collection features over 160 works dating from the 19th century to the present day. The show features many well-known Canadian artists such as the Group of Seven, J.W. Morrice, Emily Carr, Cornelius Krieghoff, and Kent Mockman. The show also features prominent artists from Atlantic Canada such as Alex Colville and Christopher Pratt.

Entrance to the exhibition is free in order to provide Nova Scotians with access to art.

It was a very exciting day for everyone. A very special thank you to our chaperones, Mrs. Susie. DeCoste, Ms. Karen Jones, and Ms. Kara Lister Wade.
