KES Dance Team Represents and Wins at Competition

On Saturday, March 4, eight students and two teachers headed to Halifax for the Limelight Dance Competition at Spatz Theatre. Dancers performed their best run-through yet to “Puttin’ on the Ritz” in a two-minute, upbeat jazz routine. The judges scored the performance a 91.05% earning the KES Dance Team gold in their category, a trophy, and individual medals! Additionally, judges enjoyed the performance so much, they felt it was a “must see again routine” and invited the team to perform again later in the day for a second round of competition called The Vault.

From this second performance and going against 20 other routines, our dancers won “most entertaining” group number and received a second trophy! This is an incredible achievement for these dancers as it was their first time competing together as a group, and for some, their first time competing ever! Many memories were made this day as everyone felt recognized, validated, and bonds were strengthened. Even though it was a competition, the love of dance continued off stage as competitors supported and cheered for one another over a shared passion.
