Each week, deserving artists who contribute to the artistic life of our School are featured. This week at assembly, we were pleased to recognize the dedication and enthusiasm of the following students:
For the Week of January 9
Lloyd Fromson ‘23 is an incredible artist in our IB visual arts program, and his strength and direction in this course is film. He has a great “eye” for capturing events and has a wonderful way of telling stories through his camera angles and his subject choices. Lloyd has been working on his portfolio for university applications, and we are looking forward to seeing his productions during the IB exhibition in April. Lloyd has also been helping with the upcoming Senior School play production. He is absolutely amazing with his initiative for the play marketing team and has already created posters of his own creation! He is super eager and motivated. Excellent work, Lloyd!
Alex Graham ‘25 was in the visual arts course from September to December, until the students switched to their new fine arts courses. In that short time, Alex had proven himself as a talented artist. His attention to detail was one of his strengths throughout his projects. He started working on an incredible waterfall scene, and the style that he chose was high realism, which would usually take a year to complete. Alex has been coming back to the art room during his spares to complete his painting. His dedication is inspiring. Alex is also involved in the Senior School play, and he has been a wonderful addition to the cast of Puffs. He’s been purposeful with his character’s actions in scenes and has thoughtful delivery of lines based on his exploration of character development. I can’t wait to see what he brings as rehearsals unfold. Excellent work, Alex!
For the Week of January 16
Harlo Young ‘28 played an important role in the Senior School musical The Little Mermaid last autumn, finely representing the Junior School. This term she has taken on an important lead role in the Junior School Musical Willy Wonka, as Miss Gloop. Harlo is a very capable and reliable member of the Junior School arts program. Always hard working and focused on doing a great job, Harlo is a pleasure to work with. Besides her commitment to the School’s major productions, she is an important member of her class ensemble, working hard to refine her guitar playing in class, and taking private lessons outside of class time to elevate her playing and understanding. A model student in music just beginning to tap into her potential, Harlo is sure to continue to make major contributions to the KES arts program for years to come.
Rowan Lloyd ‘26 has been a stellar presence in music class for the last two years. With her accomplished piano skills and hard work, she makes a major contribution to her class. Her personal strengths are complimented by her care and concern for the community, and she always helps to elevate the class performance by helping others and maintaining a steady focus on the class objectives. Always a pleasure to work with, Rowan is deserving of more recognition for her contribution to our music program.
