River flowed through King’s-Edgehill School last week. He is currently studying math and computer science at the University of Toronto; however, it was as if he had never left when he arrived wearing some KES swag on his way to help Mr. Kim Walsh‘79 and Mr. Jason Verryn-Stuart ‘96 at wrestling practice during a break from his studies. I took a second glance when I realized it was him!
River is exceling in a very difficult program as he hopes to get into the tech industry after his graduation. Perhaps he will follow in his father’s footsteps and work in security software like his dad does in China. River could always focus his attention when needed athletically and academically as he was our scholar-athlete in his graduating year. He was a phenomenal provincial champion table tennis player and a provincial champion in wrestling. Kim Walsh is super proud that he is wrestling for U of T’s varsity team. River may have spoken very little English when he arrived in Grade 9; however, he is an excellent communicator and getting excellent results in his courses.
River hopes to remain in Canada; however, he is open to all opportunities in a booming industry of calculations and digital programing. He has a plan to ‘go with the flow’ in Toronto and beyond. Surprisingly, River said he likes Windsor more than Toronto, suggesting he may eventually work from a small town. All small towns need a River!
