Our Junior Highlander Basketball Teams are Winners!

The junior boys and girls Highlander basketball teams got off to a great start this week with a couple of wins on Wednesday. The boys and girls played simultaneous games in our Ted Canavan Athletic Centre. The girls hosted Evangeline Middle School and emerged with the victory. Natalia Shaw ‘27 provided veteran leadership for the girls, and Elynn Klein ‘28 was consistent on both ends of the court. Maanvi Manchineni ‘27 also emerged as a key player who always hustled.

 

The boys toppled Wests Hants B with ease, scoring many baskets and playing great defence. Jack Shearer ‘29, Owen Donaldson ‘29, and Fletcher Wellard ‘28 led the way with many buckets. Mr. Rory Campbell stressed sportsmanship and I made sure the boys knew that a lot of passing would be the key to their success this season. The ball moved around quickly, and the team hit many open shots. Although many students are new to basketball, they are learning quickly as the team has a lot of athletic players.
