IB Programme at KES - Reflecting on the past, looking to the future

As students and teachers are well ensconced in the academic rhythm of a new year, it is useful to reflect on the past and celebrate our success from the last session. 2020-2021 was a very interesting year to say the least! Having spent the year adjusting to the latest COVID protocols, and then having the International Baccalaureate exams cancelled provincially at the last minute had our students and teachers scrambling. Our students were exceptional, and they adjusted to the new mark schemes and requirements. The overall result? We had one of our best years ever with all IB diploma candidates passing with flying colours, with the top mark being a 41 – this is an exceptional result! Our overall average across all subjects was a 5.3 with 11 students earning a perfect 7 on their courses. The IB is not just for the gifted few – 74 of our 84 graduates took at least one IB course. This 88% overall participation rate speaks to both the strength of the IB programme and its suitability for consideration by all students.

This year has started well, and IB enrollments for the upcoming May 2022 exams are currently being entered in the IB system. For those wanting to look ahead, the exam schedule for the May 2022 session is here.  At KES we are proud of our IB heritage, and in fact, have been an IB school since 1979 – 147th in the world to be exact! We help those who find this programme challenging (most do) and also add polish to those who need a little refinement.
