Mary Corelli (Tuck)

Edgehill (1941-1947)
Mary passed away on August 16, 2021.
Mary died peacefully surrounded by her family in Bridgepoint Health on August 16, 2021 at the age of 92. Mary is survived by her children, Stephen Corelli, Catherine D’Agostino, (Tony), Adam Corelli, Gillian Hubbard (Steve); grandchildren, Gillian D’Agostino, Vincent D’Agostino and Charlotte Corelli. Survived by her sister, Barbara MacAndrew; and many nieces and nephews. Mary was born in Mahone Bay on October 23, 1928. She went on to study art at Mount Allison University, The Montreal Museum School, Chelsea and St. Martins in London England. She worked as a professional illustrator, painter and writer. She raised four children as a single mother. For decades Mary was a fulltime faculty member at the Ontario College of Art. She is a charter member of the Arts and Letters Club and The Woman’s Art Association of Canada. Mary painted throughout her life and exhibited her work on numerous occasions. Mary is renowned for her impish sense of humor and her love of all creatures great and small. She was an avid reader and an author of a book of selective poetry that was published. Mary had an ability to make people feel special by her epic ode writing ability, the highlight of many occasions for so many of us. Mary's artistic talents were vast and reached beyond the paint brush in hand. From knitting Irish sweaters, gardening and refinishing furniture, she never had idol hands! A special thanks to Dr. Ruth Hussman, Izzy and Rhona for their compassion and expert care as well as the team at Bridgepoint. A celebration of life for Mary will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the The Arts and Letters Club of Toronto Foundation, 14 Elm St. 2nd floor, Toronto, M5G 1G7, tel: (416) 597-0223.
