Playing Fields

Playing Fields: the various playing fields around the Campus are named for staff and old boys. Jakeman Field is where Cadet Inspections take place.
The 4 playing fields are called and named as follows:
  1. Jakeman Field: in memory of former staff member, W. D Jakeman (1931-1935)
  2. The John Derrick Field: in memory of former Headmaster, John S. Derrick, (1960-1973)
  3. Hermann Field: in memory of Old Boy, Charles B. Hermann (1919-1924)
  4. Menzies Field: named after Headmaster, T.T. Menzies (1973-1987)
In 2018, we built Canada's safest and best new synthetic turf sports field.  Surrounding the field is an 8-lane regulation running track. It is traditional gravel and crusher dust surface, but the plan is to have it paved and rubberized and named the Track of Payne after KES former teacher and track coach Guy Payne (1967-2011).
