The opening meet of the outdoor season brought a welcome return to competition for King’s-Edgehill’s track and field athletes. With competitors entered in sprints, distance races, jumps, and throws, the team delivered a strong all-around performance. Athletes gained valuable early-season experience ahead of Meets 2 and 3 in the Spring Series, scheduled for April 25 and April 30.
Sprints
Manny Adaramodu ’26 opened his outdoor season with a confident third-place finish in the senior boys 100m, running a new personal best of 11.72. He later returned to contest the 400m and is keen to try again.
Jeremy Aigbe ’25 followed closely in the 100m, placing seventh with a new PB of 11.95. He also tested the waters in the 400m and earned third place in the long jump with a tying PB of 6.18m, one of the team’s top field performances of the day.
Fedora Asoh ’27 and Mielle Lawrence ’28 raced side by side in the intermediate girls 100m, each putting in a steady effort. Both achieved personal bests in the 100m. Fedora later returned in the 400m, showing toughness and commitment in her season debut, also marking her first PB at that distance.
Preston Sauvignac ’28 and Rowan Sanson ’28 competed in the intermediate boys 100m, both recording early-season PBs as they gained confidence for future meets.
Middle Distance
In the intermediate girls 800m, Heather Lawton ’28 placed second with a composed and strategic race. Georgia Murphy ’27 followed just behind in third, closing strongly and also setting a new PB.
Ryunosuke Takada ’27 finished third in his heat of the intermediate boys 800m, running with purpose and control and setting a new personal best.
Chelsea James ’29 opened her outdoor season in the junior girls 800m with a fourth-place finish and a PB, racing with focus and solid pacing throughout.
Jumps
Lily Williams ’27 delivered King’s-Edgehill’s first event win of the season, claiming the top spot in the intermediate girls long jump with a well-executed series and a PB performance of 4.43m.
In the senior girls long jump, Adaure Ojinere ’26 placed second with a PB, and Igho Aigbe ’26 followed in third, also recording a PB.
Marlowe Lister Wade ’29 placed seventh in the junior girls long jump, recording a PB in her season debut. Lidya Mercan ’29 also turned in a solid performance in the same event and recorded a PB.
In the junior boys long jump, Spencer Armstrong ’30 impressed with a fifth-place finish, registering a PB and one of the top jumps of the day from a Grade 7 athlete. He also had a strong finish in his 100m dash.
With personal bests across multiple disciplines and contributions from every grade level, the team now turns its focus toward the second meet of the Spring Series on Friday, April 25. The momentum from Meet #1 promises an exciting next few weeks on the track and in the field.
