In our final game of Saint Mary's University’s Cayley Fox Memorial tournament, our opponents requested that we alter the format slightly so that some of our Grade 9 players could play. When given that opportunity, Grade 9 dynamo Ali MacLean '27 took full advantage and showed why she is one of the best rugby players in the Atlantic region at her age. She was all over the pitch both on defense and attack making many great tackles and impressive runs. What was most impressive was her desire and ability to put her teammates in positions to be successful. There’s no doubt that the senior girls rugby team is in good hands in the future as Ali continues to develop. Keep up the great work Ali!

Grace Allison '25 played fabulous rugby and showed great leadership at Saint Mary's University’s Cayley Fox Memorial tournament. With some of our key players unavailable, Grace moved into the important fly-half position for the first time. She controlled the games well, involved her teammates, and showed courage in the face of tough competition. Thanks to Grace’s play, our girls finished the tournament a perfect 4-0. In her second year on the team, Grace has blossomed into a player her coaches and teammates can depend on in important situations. Well done Grace!

Watching Maanvi Manchineni '27 sprint down the sidelines en route to multiple tries in our Grade 9/10 7s games this week was exciting! Although new to the senior rugby team, Maanvi’s impressive skills and understanding of the game gained during her time with our junior rugby program have made her an immediate standout. She is a tireless worker who always has a smile on her face, we are very excited to see Maanvi excel at the upcoming Rugbyfest tournament in New Brunswick as part of our formidable Grade 9/10 7s team. Keep up the great work Maanvi!

Manu Aramburo Corrales '27 is very athletic and he has a great passion for learning how to play rugby. He scored a try during his first 7s game last week and helped the team win against Horton. He continues to grow developmentally and communicates with his teammates to learn more about the game and to become a better player. Well done Manu!

Frances Aceron '24 was a force to be reckoned with last week as the girls rugby team opened their regular season play. Playing a new position this year, Frances showed no hesitation in asserting herself immediately. She ran hard with the ball in hand, delivered excellent passes, and made key tackles in both of our games. Frances’ unique combination of strength, speed, and tenaciousness will be counted on this season as the team continues to work towards improving this season. Great work Frances!

Tony Ojinere '24 started fulfilling his academic and rugby potential towards the end of last season, and he is continuing to do so this season. He earned two more starts in the games against Horton and Park View last week and in the process, became an official member of the First XV and got his sweater. Earning several tries over the two games, he gained a lot of metres every time he got the ball, terrorizing the opposition by running people over and absorbing several tacklers, opening up space for his teammates on the rest of the field. He was also very impressive on defense, making several excellent tackles. We are looking forward to seeing how Tony helps the team when we travel to Rothesay's Rugbyfest tournament this weekend. Good work, Tony!
