Artists of the Week

The arts at King’s-Edgehill are an inclusive environment that embraces diversity. Not only in who we are but in our choices of what we pursue and how we express that choice. Imagination and creativity foster the capacity to develop ideas, solve problems, provide life skills, and open the door for opportunities. Intelligence and creativity are overlapping skills and through the arts, a person builds confidence, develops perspective, and finds their true nature.

Rendi Ashley '24
Rendi is a very talented artist. Her artwork demonstrates her stellar technical skills. Rendi is enrolled in the IB visual arts program and has chosen to research her Balinese culture for her focus in her studio work. Her mother found an old photograph of herself with her sisters, taken in Bali during a traditional celebration. This photograph was the inspiration and direction for Rendi’s work in the IB visual arts program. The research led to incredible art pieces and heartwarming stories about her culture. It was a perfect opportunity to explore her culture and gave Rendi a wonderful window into her heritage. Awesome work Rendi, Congratulations!

Laura Oulton '27
Thanks to her consistent and dedicated preparation efforts for the dance recital, Laura is being awarded Artist of the Week. Despite having two weeks off from practice over March Break, she clearly rehearsed the choreography and presented it well, leading the group, during the first practice back. During our practices, Laura uses her time wisely and reviews the moves of a different routine while her coaches help others. Besides remembering two group dances, she is also sharing a self-choreographed solo at the recital. Her expression, extensions, self-discipline, and enthusiasm for dance shines through her movement. Her coaches appreciate her leadership and attention to detail, and they look forward to seeing her perform at the dance recital this on Friday, April 19.
