Cadet Spring Training Has Arrived!

The launch of cadet spring training is here as we started up on Wednesday, March 27 at 254 King’s-Edgehill School Highland Cadet Corps. Next Wednesday, new activities in the cadet program are rolled out with the return of canoeing to our Wednesday afternoon program!

We will have canoeing, trips to OnTree, marksmanship, fitness testing, trekking, First Aid training, biking, how to light a fire course, army cadet skills training, and even an upcoming gold star Grade 10 adventure expedition on April 25 and 26.

Cadet Summer Camp courses are offered and those who were looking for summer activities should hear back in the upcoming months on course selection. Our team has submitted the cadet training centre applications this week.

The high standard of marksmanship in the 254 is impressive. Leading the way is Sergeant Max Stulberger '24 with Distinguished Marksman. He joins a very elite group by achieving this level! Very few cadets achieve this marksman qualification which requires the marksman to shoot under 1.5 cm twice at the distance of 30 feet on the same target! Max will now proudly display his badge with the cross rifle and crown next time he dons his red highland doublet. What an accomplishment!

Making an impact in the cadet program is Cadet Julien Gingras '27. Just before March Break, he achieved his First Class Marksman with 2.5 cm groupings on the range. He was presented with his certificate and badge at assembly. Well done!

Our spring session is likely to be the busiest yet with three upcoming major events. We’ll have our Church Parade, Cadet Ball, and the Annual Cadet Review within weeks of each event. The spring semester is sure to fly by.

We are going to make sure we pause and enjoy the experience.
