A Simpler Time

King’s-Edgehill School is proud to introduce its fourth Senior School play production, A Simpler Time, which brings together a group of passionate and dedicated students from Grades 10-12.

A Simpler Time is a collection of short comedies that is presented to you through the wonderful world of time travel. In an hour and a half, you will follow the lives of teenagers Marley, Chris, and Taylor who are desperately looking for a break from their chaotic, modern lives. With the world’s problems weighing heavily on their shoulders, they prepare to use a time machine to find “a simpler time”. They jump from a common household in the medieval ages, to a busy switchboard in the 1940s, and they even find themselves caught up in the future! A Simpler Time is brought to you by enthusiastic and spirited students who are bursting with bright talent.

In preparation for their shows on April 12 and 13, we are excited to present three members of our gifted cast and crew in the weekly newsletter to give you a sneak peek of the incredible talent you can expect to see! We hope you will support them by attending our performances in the spring.

This is Jacob’s Grade 11 year at King’s-Edgehill. He is an avid participant in robotics, the school’s jazz band, and the cadet band, playing the saxophone. Jacob says his passion for the arts stems from the beauty of music. Jacob will be heard from backstage playing the role of Scott in A Simpler Time. He says the play will be enjoyable because of all the humour within it! Good luck, Jacob!

 

Elisa started at KES this year in Grade 11. In this year’s production of Matilda, she played the dancing instructor, Rudolpho, showing of her beautiful dancing skills. Her next role will be as Dolly Madison in our Senior School play, A Simpler Time. Elisa has been a wonderful addition to our dance team this year and can be seen in our upcoming dance recital. Elisa says she recommends getting involved in the arts because it is a friendly and inclusive community where everyone’s talents are welcomed. Break a leg, Elisa!

               

Cara is in Grade 11, and it is her first year at King’s-Edgehill. In her time here so far, she has helped with the backstage crew for both Matilda and A Simpler Time and has become a valued member of Debate Club. She has jumped right into the tech booth, and it will be thanks to her that you can see the actors when they step onstage in April. Cara recommends that people get involved in the arts because you can exercise a part of your brain that is essential to keeping us happy, and you can learn all sorts of new skills. Thank you, Cara!
