King’s-Edgehill Has Top Shot in Zone Competition

Early Saturday morning our dedicated cadet marksmanship team prepared to head out to Camp Aldershot to compete in the Zone Marksman Competition. With anticipation for the day that lay ahead, the team packed up the van after an early breakfast.

Our cadet marksmanship team competitors are Warrant Officer Ann MacQuarrie ‘25, Sergeant Max Stulberger ‘24, Sergeant Tove Snarby ‘26, Sergeant Max Proctor ‘27, and Cadet Julien Gingras ‘27. Our competitors were among the 10 teams comprised of almost 50 cadets that arrived from Bridgewater to Windsor to the Yarmouth area. Our Corps Training Officer, Captain Logan Morse, served as the Range Safety Officer of the competition.

The first order of the day was sighting in their air rifles upon arriving at Camp Aldershot. Next, teams, or relays as they are called would fire two targets in the prone position.

By mid-day, our top shot, WO Ann MacQuarrie, was ranked fifth overall. But wait…that was about to change! In the afternoon cadets would shoot one target in the standing position and WO MacQuarrie would go on to shoot the BEST target out of nearly 50 cadets. This remarkable comeback would give Ann the recognition of placing first in the Zone Competition as the Top Individual Marksman.

As marksmanship coach, it is a pleasure to coach such a dedicated team that really has fun training and competing together. Friendships are being formed for life in the 254!
