Team Spirit and Laughter at the Cadet Winter Carnival

The fun and joy that our Winter Carnival brings the students of King’s-Edgehill School is a real delight! With team spirit and laughter, students competed in their team colours with the desire to be recognized as the top team! There were many activities. Here are some of the highlights.

As sneakers filled with snow and fingers became cold from competing outside at the Ankle Antics three-legged race, groups had the opportunity to go for hot chocolate and spend time by the bonfire to warm up. Team excitement peaked when we got down to the last two teams for the Tug of War on the Tanna Turf. Meanwhile, the energy was high as we went from nine teams in Blind Volleyball down to the final two teams. This competition was held in the Ted Canavan Athletic Centre. Winter Carnival favorite snacks were available at the Beaver Tail truck.

When lunch was served, we experienced amazing fried chicken and poutine. It was delicious. After the amazing performance of hypnotist, Ian Stewart, or shall I say the Grade 12 students who were up on the stage, it was off to the Student versus Staff Basketball Game. After a phenomenal effort and strong push by our students, the staff held on to a narrow lead and won the game.

At the Head of School’s Valentine’s Day supper, Ava Shearer ‘24 and Spencer Johnson ‘24 announced the winning team! It was Team Blue! Team Blue had their picture taken with the trophy and will be rewarded a dress-down day!

The success of the Cadet Winter Carnival was due to the amazing work and organizational skills of Mrs. Kiaya Lakes (Cadet Operations Officer), Ms. Victoria Hill (Coordinator of Student Engagement), our faculty, and senior cadet leadership. The participation and enthusiasm of our students really made this a special day to unleash the team spirit that we are known for. Very well done!
