Highlanders Girls Hockey takes on Brampton Tournament

The girls jumped out to a great start in Brampton with a commanding 4-0 win. They followed the win up with back-to-back 2-1 wins in which they controlled the pace but were unable to put any more past talented opposing goalies.

The girls finished the round-robin with a record of 3-0. The Highlanders sat in first place in their pool of ten teams, and second place overall, of the 40 teams in the tournament. Just two hours after finishing their final game they were back in action for the round of 16 against the Sharks from Scarborough. They fought hard and tied the game at one midway through the third. But on the Sharks Power Play, a wild bounce landed on a player's stick staring at an open net. That led the game to finish 2-1.

Overall, a very solid group of games but in tournaments comprised of the best U18 competition across the country it simply is a matter of inches.

Halfway through the season, the Highlanders enter Christmas break with an overall record of eight wins, five losses, and seven ties. The girls are in exam mode now.
