KES Highlanders Take Home Medals at Atlantic Challenge Cup

This past weekend the 26th annual Atlantic Challenge Cup took place in Moncton, New Brunswick. This tournament saw the four Atlantic provinces compete in round robin play followed by the medal round.

JD Trainor ‘26 is a Highlander boys hockey forward who competed for the U16 male Newfoundland team which took home the bronze medal. JD finished tied for second in points, recording two goals and three assists for five points in the four games played. JD will look to carry that confidence into this weekend as the Highlander boys hockey team heads to Fredericton for two games this weekend.

Ali MacLean ‘27 is a Highlander girls hockey forward who competed for the U16 female Nova Scotia team. Ali helped team Nova Scotia take home the gold medal! Team Nova Scotia completed an exciting comeback in the finals, scoring two goals in the last 2:30 to take home the gold medal. Congratulations on the gold medal, Ali!

Will Shearer ‘26 competed for the U16 male Nova Scotia team. Will helped the team to a gold medal finish with one goal and two assists in four games. The team was dominant with strong performances throughout the course of the weekend. Congratulations, Will!

Cameron Scott, Head Coach, Highlanders Girls Hockey, was also a gold medal winner this past weekend in Moncton. Cam was one of the assistant coaches with the Nova Scotia U14 female team. The U14 females went undefeated and won the gold medal in dramatic fashion as well, scoring to tie it up in the last minute and winning it in overtime!

Congratulations to all four Highlanders on their provincial stage achievements!
