Sebastian, Alexandra Louise Jeanette "Alex"

Passed away September 11, 2019
It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we share with you Alexandra "Alex" Louise Jeanette Sebastian, age 26 years old of Halifax, pass-ed away in Hospice Halifax onSeptember 11, 2019 after a hard-fought battle with a rare form of ovarian cancer. Alex was born on April 19, 1993 in Calgary, Alta. Nova Scotia had been home to Alex and her family since she was 10 years old. Alex is survived by her mother, Donna J. Reed; father, Kevin J. Sebastian; and her younger sisters, Katarina "Nina", Faith, Eva; and brother, John-Michael; stepfather, Douglas Lockerby; and her grandparents, John and Jeanette Reed and Karl and Dianne Sebastian. Alex was a kind and gentle soul. She touched the lives of everyone she came in contact with and she will be sadly missed by many. Alex will always be remembered as a loving, kind and caring person - always putting others before herself. There truly are not enough words to describe the person she was. During her battle with cancer, she never lost her spark and zest for life. Although Alex fought to the very end, she embraced her days with us and made the most of each and every day. Alex was more concerned about how her passing would affect her family, rather than how she was being taken from us at such a young age. Alex was an aspiring fashion designer, having completed her diploma in fashion design, she had plans on a grand scale for her future in the fashion design, and clothing industry. Although Alex did not have children of her own, she was very much a second mother to her younger sisters and brother, all of whom miss her dearly. Alex was a true gift to this world. We truly believe, with all of our hearts, that the effect Alex has had on all those around her throughout her life, will ripple through time touching and helping others along the way. Alex and her family want to thank the nurses and doctors of ward 5A at the VG Site, QEII in Halifax for their professional, yet personal and compassionate care Alex received while there. Later, Alex was fortunate enough to move into the new Hospice Halifax. We would like to thank the staff at Hospice Halifax for providing Alex with comfort and joy during the final weeks of her life. While in Hospice, we were able to make the most of each day with Alex and enjoyed many family BBQs, dinners and shared special times together. There will be a memorial service held for Alex on Tuesday, September 17th, at 2 p.m. in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax. Following the service, at Alex's request, there will be a celebration of her life at The Old Triangle, located at 5136 Prince St., Halifax, from 4-7 p.m.
