Athletics Nova Scotia Indoor Club Championships Recap — Issue 20
Five KES students were among the more than 400 competitors who took part in the Athletics Nova Scotia Indoor Club Championships this past weekend at the Canada Games Centre in Halifax.
There are two track and field seasons each year: outdoor and indoor, also known as short track. Thanks to the generosity of Mrs. Tanna (Goldberg) Schulich ’59 and her husband, Mr. Seymour Schulich, we are well acquainted with the 400-metre Tanna Track. Indoor tracks, by contrast, measure 200 metres.
Several events are unique to the indoor season. One such event, the 60m dash, was well represented by KES athletes. Our only female competitor, Fedora Asoh ’27, recorded an outstanding personal best and earned a silver medal in the U18 category. She also posted a personal best in the 200m dash.
Emmanuel Adaramodu ’26 captured gold in the U18 200m and silver in the 60m dash, with both performances representing significant personal bests. His times qualified him for the Canadian Indoor Track and Field Championships in Toronto later this month.
Samuel Aderemi ’28 and Chibuikem Ukaegbu ’27 competed in their first track meet and performed strongly in the 60m dash. Charlie Thornhill ’28 gained valuable experience in the 200m, while Spencer Armstrong ’30 earned a bronze medal and personal best in the U16 800m.
Although it is the indoor season, our athletes continue training outdoors on the Tanna Track five nights a week. Well done to all competitors.
Our next meet is the SMU Invitational on February 7.
