Developmental Hockey Faces-off in Weekend Tournament

Kevin Lakes, Pat LePoidevin, Kiaya Lakes, and myself brought our Junior School development hockey team to a tournament at the St. Margaret’s Bay Arena this past week. Thursday, the team won one game and lost the other which put us in the semi-final match on Friday. We had a bit of a slow start in this one, but we hit our stride in the second period. In the end, we won against Halifax Grammar School in a shootout in the seventh round when Eli Strum ‘28 potted the eventual winner! Goaltenders Jacob Edgecombe ‘27 and Quinn Watt ’28 stood tall throughout. This win put us in the tournament final against Sacred Heart.

We lost the final 9-6. Sacred Heart had a few players who were over six feet tall and proved to be too much for some of our young and much smaller defenders. Our student-athletes worked very hard and should be proud of their silver medals. Hugo Montgomery ‘27, Jack Shearer ‘29, Eli Strum, and Brin Lloyd ‘27 provided the vast majority of our offence through the two-day event.
