Girls Pull out Close Victory on Seniors' Night

Our girls were taken aback by a very motivated Park View team who pushed us to our limits. Luckily, our girls were able to outlast our opponents to pick up the 63-57 victory in our last league game of the season.

 

Before the game we were able to take a moment and recognize the contributions and leadership of our three Grade 12 students Abbey MacRae '24, Meaghan MacNeil '24, and Frances Aceron '24. Abbey’s parents and Meaghan’s dad were all able to attend and Frances’ dad sent a special video message to her that she was able to view before the game.

 

All three seniors joined us in Grade 10 and have become leaders in our school community. Meaghan, from Cole Harbour, followed in the footsteps of her older sister Emily MacNeil ‘21 and has provided a calm, mature presence for her teammates and classmates here at KES. Abbey, from Bedford NS, is a member of our boarding community here at KES and serves as Co-Executive Council Head for our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee and has done excellent work helping our school become more inclusive for all students. In a short time at our school, Frances has earned the reputation as “somebody who makes everybody feel like a somebody”. One of our prefects from Estevan, Saskatchewan, Frances has led on and off the court with grace, empathy, and a genuine concern for those around her.

 

All of the girls were very appreciative of the support tonight in the stands! A special thank you to Heather Strickey and Kara Lister Wade who added some great atmosphere on the mic and with some play-by-play! Additional thanks to Grade 9 students Max Proctor ‘27 and Harvey Hadley ‘27 who helped with the stream and to Nathalie Etou '27 who helped me with some ideas about how to make the night special for our grads.

 

The girls play one final home game next week when they host the Yarmouth Vikings in the Western Region semifinal on Tuesday.
